The
discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings, by
Howard Carter, in 1922 has been described as the world’s
greatest discovery of ancient treasure. Now children visiting the
internationally renowned Tutankhamun Exhibition can go on their
own Treasure Hunt over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, with the
chance of winning ‘treasure’ for themselves.
The
Tutankhamun Exhibition dramatically recreates the moment of
discovery of the tomb. Visitors walk through the ante-chamber
filled with its treasure and enter the burial chamber to see
Howard Carter raising the coffins from the sarcophagus. In the
Treasury some of Tutankhamun’s greatest golden treasures are
displayed in exact facsimile.
Children
explore this innovative exhibition, become ‘archaeological
detectives’ in a bid to solve the puzzle of the missing
treasure. All those who correctly follow the clues and crack the
code will be entered in a prize draw. One lucky person each day
will win a Tutankhamun mummy case with a mummy inside. The
Treasure Hunt is being held throughout the Spring Bank Holiday
weekend from Saturday 24th – Bank Holiday Monday 26th May.
This special
exhibition is at:
The Tutankhamun Exhibition
25 High West Street
