Date Set for Restoration of Mask

On 10th October the famous funerary mask of Tutankhamun will be removed from display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo so that necessary restoration worik can be performed.  The main focus of the restoration will be the hastily botched repair earlier this year when Tutankhamun’s beard was damaged.

The restoration work will be carried out in a specially equiped room with state of-the-art equipment. German restorer Christian Eckmann and a CT scanner have been assisting the Egyptian authorities in determining the best course of action to restore this treasure that has become the face of Egyptology and even Archaeology.
